Prefer Pairing Length

Overview

The Quick Answer

If you like flying trips of a certain length bid this feature.

The Manual

Prefer Pairing Length add pairings of a desired length in calendar days.

Bidliner Insight

This property allows you to request a desired pairing length (in calendar days). You may use this property more than once in the same layer, however; bidding different pairing lengths in the same layer are considered of equal importance.

This property does not specify the number of duty periods within a pairing. For example, selecting 3-day pairings may result in a pairing pool with 2- and 3-duty period, 3-days.

If you Bid Restrictive Workblocks from Line properties make sure they allow for the pairing lengths as well.  (example: bidding a maximum work block of 3 days in the same layer as 4 day trips is generally not a solvable layer)

Caution

  • Be sure to Bid enough Pairings. One rule of thumb is to multiply your Line Holder seniority plus 15% times the number of pairings (available to you) in your bid status.
  • Do NOT bid Prefer Pairing Length with Line Properties Pairing Mix in a Work Block.
  • Do NOT bid Prefer Pairing Length 1 with the following Pairing Properties, as they will remove all 1-Day pairings from that layer’s pool: Number of Duty Periods (greater than 1)
  • Mid Pairing Report
  • Mid Pairing Release
  • Max First Duty Period Length
  • Max Last Duty Period Length
  • Prefer one leg on first duty period
  • Prefer one leg on last duty period
  • Prefer DH on First Leg
  • Prefer DH on Last Leg
  • (Consider bidding specific 1 day pairings if this occurs - Pairing ID or Pairing ID on Date)
  • The following properties WILL INCLUDE pairing length of 1 day even if they are bid in conjunction with multi-day pairing properties:
  • Prefer Layover City
  • Avoid Layover City
  • Prefer Layover City on Date 4. Layover Length at City
  • Min Layover Length
  • Max Layover Length
  • ALWAYS REVIEW EACH LAYERS PAIRINGS.
