FO,FB Bids FO and FB in that Order
The Manual
Prioritizes pairings with a specific position (CA,RC or FO,FB,FC). Enter the position(s) desired, separated by a comma and no space. Of the available pairings, it will choose the one with a designated position first. If no position is specified, all positions are treated the same.
Bidliner Insight
The system prioritizes the Position Order before considering any Days Off properties. Consequently, a position could affect Pilots who wish to bid to maximize their total days off. To limit the number of pairings awarded in a specific layer, it is advisable for them to bid within an appropriate Target Credit Range.
**New November 2025:** Recent award challenges related to this property have led to both clarity and confusion.
This property is classified as a pairing property; however, some aspects of it seem to function like line properties or days off properties.
If you choose to bid using prefer position order, the system will only include pairings that match your constraints.
For example, if you bid prefer position order "FC,FB", the system will first consider FC pairings and then FB pairings. FO pairings will not be included.
Confusion can arise when an award is not processed normally and instead goes into Layer None (LN).
In such cases, the sorting aspect of the preferred position order will be disregarded, and any indicated preferences, such as FO first, FB second and FC thirdwill not be taken into account.
Strategy
Example: An FO who bids FO,FB,FC will be awarded a Layer 1 FB Pairing before receiving a Layer 2 FO Pairing. He will also receive any layer 2 FO Pairing over any Layer 2 FB or FC Pairing.
